Food and Drink

Everyone knows that Chicago is famous for their pizza, hot dogs, and popcorn, so why not experience all of the delicious food for yourself?

Portillo’s has been mastering their craft since 1963, and the locals consider them a reliable source for the best beef sandwiches, hot dogs, and burgers in Illinois. They have a variety of Italian beef sandwiches, Chicago-style hot dogs, bratwursts, and burgers that will leave you satisfied, but always wanting more!

Giordano’s has been perfecting their pizza in Chicago since 1974, however, the now-famous recipe has been in the works for over 200 years, beginning in Torino, Italy. If you are looking for delicious pizza and a great bar atmosphere as well, Giordano’s will not disappoint.

Garrett’s Popcorn is a popcorn company that was born in Chicago in 1949, and has remained a delicious staple to natives and travelers alike. Garrett’s can be found all over the city of Chicago, and even at the airports in case you forget to make a trip during your stay. All of their popcorn is made fresh before your eyes, and Garrett’s Mix® of caramel and cheddar popcorn is hard to resist.

Taste of Chicago is one of the best outdoor food festivals in the nation. It highlights the diversity of Chicago’s history and of its residents through delicious food, wonderful music, and interactive activities for everyone in the family! Taste of Chicago has taken place in the gorgeous Grant Park every summer since 1980. This food festival will be going on July 6-10, which is perfectly timed with SoFabU On The Road Chicago. This is a great opportunity to taste some of the best cuisine in Chicago, so don’t miss out!

Sights and Sounds

When you think of Chicago, you probably think the giant silver bean at Millennium Park, the aquatic wonders at Shedd Aquarium, or the classic masterpieces at the Art Institute of Chicago. These are all must-sees, but we have included a few other destinations as well that will make your stay in Chicago memorable.

Chicago Water Taxi
If you are looking for a fun way to get around Chicago and give you a different perspective as well, you might want to consider a Chicago Water Taxi. The boats have six various stops and tickets are as inexpensive as $8 for an all-day pass with unlimited access or $4 for a single trip.

360 Chicago Observation Deck
Few things top the views that Chicago has to offer, and the 360 Chicago Observation Deck experience certainly has one of those views. It is essentially a view from the 94th floor of the historic John Hancock Center. Visitors can purchase single tickets for $18 or they can take part in one of the activities hosted like the Sunset Series where you can take pictures and see the beautiful views from 6 p.m to 9 p.m. You can also experience TILT, which tilts visitors at an exhilarating 30-degree angle over Michigan Avenue.

Museum of Science & Industry
This museum is over 80 years old, yet has cutting edge technology and innovation exhibits. The Museum of Science & Industry is an inspiring place for all ages and your visits can be custom-fit for your interests, because there truly are so many aspects to see! The museum is open from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm everyday.

Chicago Sports Museum
Nearby the Westin hotel, the Chicago Sports Museum is one of the newest attractions to the area. The museum provides a perfect outing for all ages by combining hi-tech interactive experiences—including skill challenges and simulated experiences—with unique sports memorabilia and artifacts. This is a great stop if you are an avid sports fan, or if you bring along the whole family.

Chicago Riverwalk
Take a walk along the Riverwalk if you simply want an inexpensive and enjoyable time to take in the beautiful views of the lakeside. There are also various restaurants that line the walk as well. The Riverwalk is currently under construction, but there are still certain areas that can be accessed.
